While that may seem like a lot of money for some people, keep in mind that this is a lower receiver BUILD kit, not a lower receiver PARTS kit. To further clarify, here is what you get for $124.99;

Whats better is that you have the option to choose what color Magpul components you would like to be included with your kit. Those colors are foliage green, olive drab green, black, and flat dark earth as shown below.


I have heard rumors that their lower parts kits are made by CMMG who makes some high quality trigger components that break smoothly and easily but more on that in a future post. Here is a labeled picture of what is included with the parts kit (with Magpul MOE furniture);

I was impressed with the overall quality of components, I could not find any blemishes, dents, dings, protrusions, or sharp edges that were not intended to be there. The foliage green Magpul furniture is refreshing to look at and seems more gray in color than the pictures suggest albeit only slightly. All parts included came in sealed up baggies and were coated with a corrosion resistant grease that needs to be cleaned up with a gun cleaning solvent before installation. The Magpul MOE stock came in the Magpul box with the poster, sticker and buffer tube dimensions flier that would come in it if you had bought the stock individually.

The fitment of the MOE buttstock onto the mil-spec buffer tube is a heck of a lot tighter than my commercial spec tube with a commercial spec MOE stock. There is virtually no movement. The stock moves easily over the tube and snugly parks itself into any of the six positions on the buffer tube.

As an added bonus, the recoil buffer is engraved with Palmetto's logo and it is anodized black (a typical buffer is bare metal usually). Here is a picture for those who are curious (note the castle nut on the right and the carbine latch plate to the left);
